- For hygiene, 'bio-silicone' with mold-inhibiting properties must be used in areas where water is used, such as bathrooms or kitchens.
- If moisture or oil remains on the surface to be silicone applied, the adhesive strength will drop sharply. Be sure to dry the area thoroughly before degreasing.
- You must use 'water-based silicone' on areas to be wallpapered or painted. Paint does not adhere to regular oil-based silicone and simply sits on the surface.
- When filling deep gaps, fill them with backing material first. This reduces the amount of silicone used and creates a beautiful line of uniform thickness.
- If you cut the silicone nozzle (cone] diagonally to fit the width of the gap, even a beginner can spray a consistent amount neatly.

Silicon Requirement Calculation Formula
The total volume is calculated based on the cross-sectional area of the gap and the construction length.
Total volume required
necessary number of people
Since silicone is purchased in containers, the total calculated volume is divided by the product volume (usually 300ml], and the decimal point is always rounded up.
Detailed Guide to Calculator Input Items
Please check the dimensions of the construction area for accurate material calculation.
1. Total length of the construction section
Enter the total length of the perimeter where the silicone will be applied in meters (m]. For example, measure and enter the total length of the bathroom floor perimeter.
2. Gap width and depth
Enter the horizontal width (mm] and inner depth (mm] of the gap to be filled. If the depth is 10mm or deeper, it is more economical to use a backing material first.
3. Container capacity and markup rate
Please enter the capacity of the product used (standard 300ml, sausage type 500ml] and the markup rate (usually 10~20%] considering the amount wasted during processing.
Guide to Major Silicone Types and Applications
Expert Know-how and Checklists
This is a key practical point that determines the quality of a clean finish.
-
Using masking tape
If you apply tape to both sides of the application area, rub it with a spatula, and then peel it off before the silicone hardens, you can achieve a clean, professional-looking line.
-
Nozzle cutting angle adjustment
Cut the nozzle at a 45-degree angle, but cut it slightly wider than the gap width to fill it completely. It is even better to gently press the end to make it oval-shaped.
-
Ensure sufficient drying time
The surface dries within about an hour, but it takes at least 24 hours to harden completely to the inside. Please be careful not to let water touch it for one day.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ]
- Q. Can I apply a new layer over the existing silicone?
- A. I do not recommend it. Since the adhesive strength is poor, it peels off quickly, and if there is mold inside, it will spread again. Therefore, the proper procedure is to completely remove the existing silicone before application.
- Q. How do I remove silicone from my hands?
- A. If it has not hardened, you can wipe it off with a wet tissue or dry paper, but it is difficult to remove once it has hardened. Please wear latex gloves or similar protective gear before starting the work.
